Heathfield Station and Candy's Pottery

This photograph shows a busy scene at Heathfield railway station with a train at the platform and staff and passengers on the platform. A number of railway buildings are in view with prominent advertisements on some of the buildings - for vacuum cleaners, cocoa. The large building with three tall chimneys is Candy & Co.'s Great Western Pottery, Brick and Tile Works, whose private gated siding is visible in the foreground. The station here served as the junction between the branch to Moretonhampstead and the Teign Valley line, which served a number of villages en route to Exeter.
