Carnival Queen 1930's Muriel Clarke

This photograph, dating from the 1930's, shows the Carnival Queen, Muriel Clarke, in procession with her attendants The Carnival Queen is wearing a long dress with a train and coronet. She is carrying a large bouquet of flowers and walking under an arch formed by a group of girls in lacy dresses and carrying floral wands. Carnival Week takes place in Bovey Tracey each summer, usually during the first week in August.
