Marchants Cross

Marchants Cross was called Merchants Cross by Burnard. Burnard comments that Marchants Cross is the tallest cross on Dartmoor. This cross was a waymarker on the southern route of the Abbots Way between Buckland Abbey and Buckfast Abbey and was also a waymarker on the track between the Augustinian Plympton Priory and Tavistock Abbey. This track went via the Priory's manors of Meavy and Sampford Spiney.
