This photograph shows Pound Cottage in the middle of the 19th century. In the background of the photograph, behind the cottage, are the excavations for the construction of the railway. The railway arrived in Lustleigh in 1866, bringing with it significant change for the village. More houses were built for the many people wishing to live in Lustleigh and more hotels and guest houses were built for the tourists visiting the Cleave and surrounding areas of interest.
