A copy of an etching by Joseph Mallord William Turner from 1828. Turner (1775-1851) was one of the finest landscape artists whose work was exhibited when he was still a teenager. His entire life was devoted to his art. Unlike many artists of his era, he was successful throughout his career.
Some other sketches by Turner are held at the Royal Albert memorial museum, Exeter.
The hills in this sketch appear grander then they really are.
